Why work with the NICOLE Foundation
Across the world, pollution leaves deep and lasting impact – contaminated soil and water, vanishing biodiversity, and health crises that hit the most vulnerable first. In many places, local actors face these threats with too few resources and too little support.
NICOLE Foundation exists to change that. Our beneficiaries include NGOs, regional agencies, and multilateral institutions, and governmental bodies.
We work side by side with each to turn environmental crises into opportunities for renewal and resilience. Together we deliver:
-
Technical expertise for urgent, high-risk environments
-
Multidisciplinary teams that respect local knowledge and move quickly
-
Transparent, honest processes that build long-term trust
-
A truly collaborative model – one where your priorities shape the path forward
Our collaborative approach
From complexity to shared action
Environmental challenges are never simple. They cross political, technical, and cultural lines – and they can’t be solved by outsiders alone.
That’s why we work with beneficiaries – not just on paper, but through every step of the process. Together, we:
-
Assess environmental risks – clearly, practically, and in context
-
Design practical, scalable interventions – tailored to specific regions and communities
-
Build local capacity – transferring knowledge for long-term sustainability
-
Advance shared sustainability goals – aligning our work with ESG commitments and the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Our work is not transactional. We invest time to understand your priorities, align objectives, and ensure that together we deliver genuine, measurable impact.

Delivering results where others can’t
These recent projects show how we work alongside communities to tackle urgent environmental threats.
Syria
In North East Syria, we’re training local teams to map oil pollution in rivers, farmland, and refugee camps – supporting urgent WASH-led responses and reducing exposure risks for over a million people.
Ukraine – Nova Kakhovka Dam
After catastrophic flooding exposed contaminated sediments, we helped Ukrainian scientists assess risks and safely collect samples – equipping communities with tools for recovery and future land use decisions.
Cacao in Ecuador & Trinidad
Smallholder farmers faced losing export access due to cadmium-contaminated soil. We co-developed farmer-friendly tools and delivered local training to protect both crops and incomes.
Peru Oil Spill
Following one of Peru’s worst marine ecological disasters, we advised the Ministry of Environment on scientific reviews and cost estimates – supporting efforts to restore coastal ecosystems and fishing livelihoods.
Cuba Landfills
In Havana, uncontrolled methane and toxic dust from landfills posed a growing threat. We’re now supporting local authorities to test methane capture and dust suppression – helping communities breathe cleaner air and explore new energy solutions.
