NICOLE Foundation’s 2024 Impact Report: A year of global environmental progress Through partnership
The NICOLE Foundation is proud to share its second Annual Impact Report, spotlighting a year of bold growth, deepened partnerships, and measurable impact in some of the world’s most complex environmental contexts.
The NICOLE Foundation exists to support communities facing legacy contamination—often where responsible parties are absent, and technical or financial resources are scarce. Our 2024 report demonstrates how our model of purpose-driven collaboration is transforming urgent environmental threats into sustainable, science-based solutions.
This year’s highlights include:
Post-conflict environmental recovery in Ukraine, including sediment assessments following the Kakhovka dam breach and rapid-impact modelling in conflict zones.
Expert advisory on Peru’s Callao oil spill, one of the country’s most severe ecological disasters, supporting national recovery efforts and long-term remediation planning.
Guiding UNEP’s implementation of Resolution 6/12, creating a global roadmap for environmental monitoring and recovery in war-affected regions.
What began as a volunteer-led initiative has evolved into a global network of technical experts, NGOs, institutions, and mission-aligned donors—delivering high-value environmental support through hybrid models of pro bono, co-funded, and in-kind collaboration.
“Together, we’re proving that even the most complex contamination challenges can be solved—with the right expertise, urgency, and trust.”—Al Hannum, Chair of the Board
As we scale our impact, we continue to welcome new experts, partners, and donors into our network—because transforming legacy pollution into environmental renewal is a challenge we can only meet together.
